Welcome to the 333rd Virtual Poetry Circle!
Remember, this is just for fun and is not meant to be stressful.
Keep in mind what Molly Peacock’s book suggested.
Look at a line, a stanza, sentences, and images; describe what you like or don’t like; and offer an opinion. If you missed my review of her book, check it out here.
This poem is from H.L. Mencken:
Thanksgiving Day
Let us give thanks, Because--- The men that owe us five don't owe us ten, The girls we loved have married other men. Let us give thanks, For why?--- The trains we missed were telescoped and wrecked, The books we didn't buy were dialect. Let us give thanks, Because--- The grafts we haven't worked will never pay, The days we laid abed were dark and gray, The things we haven't said we didn't say, Let us give thanks Upon Thanksgiving Day.
What do you think?
