Mailbox Monday has become a tradition in the blogging world, and many of us thank Marcia of The Printed Page for creating it.
It now has its own blog where book bloggers can link up their own mailbox posts and share which books they bought or which they received for review from publishers, authors, and more.
Emma, Martha, and I also will share our picks from everyone’s links in the new feature Books that Caught Our Eye. We hope you’ll join us.
Here’s what I received:
Searching for the Butterflies You Crushed Last Night by Valax Malum, which is for review.
This collection of poetry expresses a significant amount of suicidal ideation as a means for processing trauma. As such, it references self-harm to varying degrees. This most often manifests as drug use, a distinct lack of self-preservation, and risky romantic entanglements.
We’re all seeking a high that will help us feel good, whether it’s a person, a substance, or an ending. We all want to forget sometimes.
If you think this will help you to feel less isolated in your own experiences, read on. If you think this will trigger your ideation... perhaps revisit Butterflies at another time.
What did you receive?
